Nate has lived most of his life in Washington County and has served as the District Manager since 1983. During this time he has been involved in countless efforts to conserve Washington County's natural resources, from native fish habitat to blueberry farming.

Envirothon
Being a part of the Maine Association of Conservation Districts we assist with the Maine Envirothon. A high school environmental science competition. Teams consist of 3-5 students and a teacher to lead them. They are tasked with solving real and current problems in the areas of - Aquatics, Forestry, Soil, Wildlife, and an annual natural resource issue. For more info go to the Maine Envirothon Website

The Washington County Soil & Water Conservation District is seeking a motivated and driven leader to serve as a full-time Environmental Technician. The individual will work with the current District Manager for an apprenticeship period before taking on sole responsibility for District operations. Employees report to the District Board of Supervisors. Washington County SWCD is co-located and partnered with the local NRCS.
Expectations:

Develop and contribute to conservation projects in Washington County

Develop programming to promote environmental stewardship by individuals

Manage District finances
-
Operate the District website and Facebook page and build the District's presence in Washington County through outreach efforts

Qualifications:

Passion for natural resource management

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Reliable transportation

Education and/or experience in environmental science/natural resources
-
Proficient at planning, organization, and program management
